Barbara
Sorensen won the title of Klondike Kate in 1995. She got her
singing start at the tender age of three and has been entertaining
folks ever since. She is a graduate of theCollege of St. Benedict
and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management
and Economics.
She has
had formal vocal training in Jazz, Opera, and Classical music
as a student at the College of St. Benedict and through private
vocal instruction provided by McPhail Center for the Arts.
She has been sharing her gift of song in high school and College
choruses, church choirs and music ensembles including the
Royal Order of Klondike Kates.
She has
served on the Board of Directors for the Ambassadors of the
Winter Carnival and retired in 2002 after having served on
the Executive Board as the President of the Royal Order of
Klondike Kates and active member for eight seasons running.
A little known fact about Barbara is that she is the singer
behind the voice of several Hackebeck beer jingles, which
have aired on local holiday radio.
She is
a native of Plymouth, Minnesota, where she presently resides
with her husband, Peter, and daughter, Mariana Sorensen. She
currently works full time as a Real Estate Manager for United
Properties in Edina, Minnesota and also enjoys her latest
and greatest starring role as "Mama" to baby Mariana. |
