Shar Salisbury,
Klondike Kate 1997, (our "Kansas City" Kate)
does come to us from the wheat fields of Kansas…beginning
her singing career at the age of four singing gospel in her
hometown church in delightful Dighton, Kansas.
Shar comes
from a talented musical family, where the love of music was
a way of life for her mom and dad and four siblings. Singing
around the piano on Sunday nights was not only expected but
also revered! Shar’s singing, piano and French horn
state competition award records have never been broken! She
studied music and performed all her life in high school, Wichita
State University, Istanbul, Turkey and back in beautiful Minnesota.
Shar continued
her singing career by gracing over 400 weddings, performing
musicals with the Richfield United Methodist Church Players
(RUMC Players) and held leads in productions such as Godspell,
Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolored
Dreamcoat, Pippin, Into the Woods and soloing at RUMC for
25 years.
Proud
mother of two fantastic sons, Marshall and Matthew, she pursues
her dreams and heads up a sales and marketing team as Minnesota
Marketing Director for AON Worksite Solutions. She is the
Coordinator of the Royal Order of Klondike Kates and sings
in two gospel groups as well.
Shar’s musical background includes opera, classical,
gospel, blues and jazz. Gospel has always been her passion
and thanks God and her family (four sisters and one brother)
for their support and love.
SHAR’S
PHILOSPHY AND "ON BEING KLONDIKE KATE":
Give of yourself unselfishly, forgive, love all those who
need your love and those who don’t…have FUN while
doing it! Being Klondike Kate and an ambassador of the St.
Paul Winter Carnival as well as the city of St. Paul gives
each one of us countless opportunities to bring fun, song
and love to the people, lightening their hearts for a time.
The singing, the costumes, the mystery and seductiveness of
"Kate", the Winter Carnival, the people….what
could be better! Portraying the character of Klondike Kate
brings joy to all….especially Kate!
Blessings, musically and a "Kiss from Kate"!!!
